  • Students of Huazhong University of Science and Technology visit SinBerBEST

    On June 27th 2023, we at BEARS/SinBerBEST were happy to host Assoc. Prof. Wenjie(Jessie) Gang, Dr Feifei Wang, and 18 students from Huazhong University of Science and Technology’s Department of Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering. We were thrilled to introduce the SinBerBEST research program and the SinBerBEST testbed facility to the visitors.

  • SinBerBEST Principal Investigators interviewed in Singapore newspaper Lian He Zao Bao

    Professors Schiavon, Tham and Sekhar were interviewed in the Lian He Zao Bao, the largest Singaporean Chinese-language newspaper with a daily circulation of about 200,000. The article discusses the Singapore government updated guidelines on improving building ventilation to strengthen the resilience against COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Straits Times: Feature on Professor Panda's SEOS Technology

    The Straits Times featured Prof Panda’s team work in developing smart socket system for plugged-in devices. In this Tech News item, the innovative Smart Electrical Outlet/Socket (SEOS) technology developed under the SinBerBEST programme was described as having the capability to provide users to remotely switch off appliances or even configure user’s electrical sockets to automatically shut down gadgets that draw too much power.

  • Prof. Panda Promoted to IEEE Fellow

    Congratulations to Dr. Sanjib Kumar Panda who has been elevated to IEEE Fellow for contributions to iterative learning control of motor drives.

  • Patent for Antenna-embedded Concrete Granted

    SinBerBEST Principal Investigators and Postdoctoral Scholars have been granted a patent for creating a process for forming an antenna structure and for embedding an antenna system in concrete. In 2016, Prof. Boon Hee Soong, Prof. Paulo Monteiro, Dr. Vanessa Reinheimer, and Dr. Yee Loon Soong, filed this patent application in order enhance the concrete structure's energy harvesting capabilities for embedded Internet of Things (IoT) applications, but to also significantly improve the overall performance of wireless technologies within buildings. Congratulations!

  • 2020 American Automatic Control Council O. Hugo Schuck Best Paper Award

    Research collaboration between SinBerBEST 2 and UC Berkeley’s Electrical Engineering and Computer Science  (EECS) team resulted in a O. Hugo Schuck Best Paper Award from the American Automatic Control Council (AACC) in 2020.
